Commercial Use Policy

 

Photographs created by Hersey Photography are protected by copyright. Purchasing prints, digital images, or photography services does not transfer ownership of the copyright.

Personal Use

 

Photographs delivered to a client may be used for personal purposes, including:

  • Printing photographs for personal display

  • Sharing photographs with family and friends

  • Posting photographs on personal social-media accounts

  • Using photographs for personal gifts and keepsakes

Photographs may not be sold, submitted to stock-image services, used to promote a business or organization, entered into commercial advertising, or otherwise used for financial or promotional purposes without written permission.

Please do not remove watermarks, apply filters, substantially alter an image, or present an edited version as the original work of Hersey Photography.

Commercial Use

Commercial use includes using a photograph to advertise, market, promote, or represent a business, organization, product, service, event, publication, or paid campaign.

Examples include:

  • Business websites and social-media accounts

  • Advertisements, flyers, brochures, and promotional materials

  • Product packaging or merchandise

  • Publications, marketing campaigns, and sponsored content

  • Resale or other revenue-generating uses

Commercial use requires a written license from Hersey Photography before the photograph is used.

Commercial-use licenses begin at $250. The final price and permitted use may depend on the number of photographs, intended purpose, audience, length of use, geographic reach, and whether the license is exclusive or nonexclusive.

Unless a written agreement specifically states otherwise, Hersey Photography retains the copyright and ownership of all photographs. A commercial-use license does not permit the customer to resell, sublicense, transfer, or claim ownership of the photograph.

Requesting a License

 

To request commercial-use permission, please describe:

  • The photograph you would like to use

  • The business or organization using it

  • Where and how it will appear

  • The anticipated length of use

  • Whether it will be used in paid advertising

  • The approximate audience or distribution
