Photographer. Veteran. Storyteller.
I’m Andrew Hersey, the photographer behind Hersey Photography and a creative voice within Hersey Creative Studios, LLC. I approach photography with curiosity, preparation, and a belief that every person, place, and occasion has a story worth preserving.
My Story
My journey with photography began in 2006 during my birding trips. I wanted to preserve the birds, wildlife, landscapes, and unexpected details I encountered along the way. Photography gradually became more than documentation—it became a way to explore new perspectives, express myself artistically, and tell meaningful stories.
Born in Florida and raised in North Carolina, I spent 22 years serving in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve before retiring in 2024. My military career took me around the world and strengthened the preparation, responsibility, and integrity I bring to every photography assignment.
As a husband and father of four, I understand the importance of preserving personal history. My photography style is rooted in dramatic, observational storytelling. Rather than forcing every moment, I look for genuine expressions, meaningful connections, and the small details that make every story unique.
During a session, you can expect me to be patient, organized, and ready to share a laugh. I want you to feel comfortable—like you’re spending time with a friend. When you receive your photographs, I want you to feel excited, joyful, and emotionally connected to the moments we captured.
I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in digital photography through Southern New Hampshire University. I am also actively involved with the Geronimo Springs Alternative Pathway Program and strive to support the people and organizations of Sierra County whenever possible.
